On Monday 12 May, InspireU took centre stage at the LNER Lincoln City Stadium for a riveting 90-minute football match.

The clash of titans saw the InspireU Football Team lock horns with the InspireU Allstars!

The InspireU Allstars, a team comprising learners who typically don't engage in football, alongside a few enthusiastic staff members who dusted off their boots! Parents, carers, guardians and staff members filled the stands with cheers to create a great atmosphere.

Blessed with a warm sunny day, the match unfolded with sheer entertainment. Against the odds, the InspireU Allstars surged ahead with a 3-1 lead, only to be met with a fierce comeback by the InspireU football team, levelling the score to 3-3. The thrilling deadlock led to the dreaded penalty shootout, where the InspireU football team displayed remarkable composure, clinching victory with a 4-2 win.

While some InspireU learners opted out of football, they actively contributed in other capacities, from managing media announcements and coaching to hospitality roles such as meet-and-greet, running the tuck shop and raffle and capturing moments as the official photographer. It was truly a collaborative InspireU team effort!

This landmark event has now become a cherished annual tradition on the InspireU calendar, culminating in the presentation of the Peter Brown trophy to the triumphant team. The trophy, named in honour of the late Peter Brown, a revered mathematics tutor at InspireU and a huge football enthusiast, holds special significance. Peter's daughter, Georgia, graced the occasion, adding a poignant touch by presenting the trophy to the InspireU Football team.

A heartfelt thank you extends to Lincoln City for this incredible opportunity. A day that will live long in memories for us all.
