Boston Pop-up Charity Shop

In February Boston held a pop-up charity shop to raise funds for the end of year prom.
What is a Charity Pop-Up Shop?
A charity pop-up shop is a temporary retail space where donated items are sold to raise funds for a specific charity or cause. These shops often feature a variety of goods, including clothing, accessories, home decor, and even handmade crafts. The proceeds from sales go directly to supporting the fund-raising event making every purchase a meaningful contribution.
The learners, staff and local people donated items for the shop. Everything was sorted, priced and labelled. It was then displayed for sale.
The learners enjoyed the event and learned how a business model of retail works.
Here are some of the areas of learning:
- Source of inventory - donations from the InspireU local community
- Retail operations - donated items are sorted, priced, and displayed for sale
- Fundraising - the revenue generated from sales goes directly to supporting the nominated event
- Workforce - many charity shops rely heavily on volunteers
- Environmental Impact -By selling second-hand items, charity shops promote recycling and reduce waste
- Social Impact - charity shops often serve as community hubs, providing affordable goods to those in need and fostering a sense of community
- Marketing – learners made leaflets and posted them in the local community
Everyone was delighted with the way the day went and even more so with the amazing £70.00 raised.
