Application process

Initial assessment

  • candidates or their representatives must submit a request for access arrangements to the SENCo and Exam officer
  • the request must include supporting evidence, such as medical reports or assessments by qualified professionals, evidence within an education, health and care plan.  They may also include previously times assessments for the purpose of requesting additional time

Submission and approval process

  • the SENCo will process any Access Applications and request any evidence required, one approved by SENCO this will be shared with the Exams Officer
  • once approved by the SENCO these will be submitted to JCQ and Walled Garden (City and Guilds). By the exam officer
  • some arrangements may be delegated to the centre, while others require prior approval from the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) awarding body

Supporting evidence

  • evidence must be current and relevant to the candidate’s needs
  • for disabilities and medical difficulties, evidence may include medical reports, psychological assessments, or statements from educational professionals, or education, health and care plan documentation
