Admissions policy

Enrolment

The new learner will be invited in to start the enrolment process. Initial Assessment activities will be carried out which will help to inform which groups and qualifications the new learner will be enrolled on. The Provision Manager will agree which pathway will be followed and allocate the learner to a group. As part of this process, the Tutor will meet with the learner, agree, and set targets for the course. The Provision Manager will discuss the goals with the learner and set these with their agreement. A member of the Careers team will also meet with the new learner to discuss work experience.

The enrolment paperwork will be processed within 5 working days. The new learner will be given a date for commencing in-person lessons, which is expected to be at the end of the 5 working days period. Whilst waiting for the in-person classes to start, the new learner will be issued with login details to access remote learning.

Please be aware that some of our sites are not open on a Monday due to these being shared spaces and occupied by other services. Therefore, a new learner may be required to attend an alternative site or a local LCC building, in order to complete their enrolment.

Commence studies

Once the enrolment has been processed, the new learner will be issued with their ID badge and are now ready to start their agreed programme. New learners are not allowed to be in sessions until all information is held and updated to the Databridge system.

Induction Period

Once a start date has been agreed, the learner will be monitored for the first 6 weeks (Induction period), this is to ensure that the programme the learner is enrolled on is the most appropriate for them. During this time attendance and attitude to learning will be monitored and recorded. If during this time it is evident that the programme on offer is not right for the learner, they will be met with to discuss other options which could include changing to another InspireU site or withdrawing from the programme. For learners with EHCPs this will need to be done through calling an early review. Any learners being considered for withdrawal, must have prior approval from a member of the Senior Leadership Team. If the learner is engaged once this period is completed, the learner will then be fully enrolled at InspireU.
