Work experience
Aim of work experience at InspireU
The aim of the InspireU Work Experience Programme is to provide learners with meaningful, practical exposure to the workplace, focusing on the development of essential work-related skills, competencies, confidence, and independence. Work experience is key component of the course we offer at InspireU.
Through InspireU placements, learners will have the opportunity to explore a variety of roles, tasks, and working environments, helping them make informed decisions before committing to a specific career path. This experiential approach offers valuable insight into multiple sectors and job types, aligned with each learner’s interests and aspirations.
While on placement, learners will be encouraged to demonstrate their strengths, apply their skills in real-world settings, and build professional relationships with employers. These experiences are designed to enhance their employability and maximise their chances of success in their chosen area of interest.
Ultimately, the InspireU Work Experience Programme supports learners in progressing toward their intended destinations—whether that be paid employment, voluntary work, further education, or training—by equipping them with the confidence and clarity to take their next steps
How it works
At InspireU, we are committed to sourcing safe and meaningful work placements.
Learners will be supported to complete a vocational profile to support InspireU to source placements that best match learner’s interests and aspirations.
Learners will attend work experience placements in their chosen field, gaining valuable insight and practical skills.
Learner’s days and times for work experience will be matched to individual learners needs. Some learners may be attending 1 or 2 days a week, where other learners may only attend for a few hours.
In addition to placements, learners may engage in workplace visits, work shadowing opportunities, and enterprise activities to broaden their understanding of the world of work.
All placements will be aspirational yet realistic, informed by current Labour Market Information and Intelligence to support future career pathways.
